Text Message Fraud

NMEFCU alerts you to a "test message" that scammers are using in an attempt to steal personal information. It's called "Smishing" (SMS + Phishing), and is a form of text-message fraud that occurs when criminals, posing as financial institutions, attempt to dupe mobile phone users to into revealing personal information by calling a phone number. These messages may say they are: Confirming Account or Credit or Debit Card Numbers, Account De-activation, Account Status Alert, Changes to Terms and Conditions, Irregular Activity, etc.

Please do not respond to these messages and delete them from your phone. NMEFCU will never contact you by email or text message and ask for your banking information.
